This one is engraved, not printed — the design is cut into the glaze, so you can feel it. Every other mug in this shop is a smooth surface with ink on it. This is the only one you can read with your hands.

What it looks like

A 13oz speckled ceramic mug, two-tone: a semi-gloss speckled upper body over a natural matte glazed base, so the colour varies slightly from mug to mug. On the front, engraved in a single dark tone, a compact badge: a small ring with a solid centre at the top — a lens, taken from the book’s cover art — then BRAVE BY CHOICE. / BLIND BY CHANCE. in heavy capitals across two lines, with NO SIGHT REQUIRED in small widely spaced capitals beneath. The badge sits about an inch and a half wide in the middle of the mug face. Available in black, forest green, navy blue and grey.

What it feels like

The whole mug has a subtle speckled texture you can feel under your fingertips. The engraved area is recessed — run a thumb across it and the letters read as shallow grooves cut into the surface, with the ring of the lens mark the easiest shape to find. It is not braille and it is not raised; it is cut in. Standard handle, flat base. Hand washing recommended to preserve the finish.
